Pinion Software was established in 1997 by Matthew Bielich, a student and freelance programmer. Matthew started by writing computer programs while learning more about the Internet and HTML. The company was renamed Pinion Solutions the following year in order to include a wide range of solutions including web development and general computer consulting.

Many people ask where the company name came from.  You will find the following definition for "pinion" in the Merriam-Webster dictionary:
1 : a gear with a small number of teeth designed to mesh with a larger wheel or rack
2 : the smaller of a pair or the smallest of a train of gear wheels
While a single pinion is small and works behind the scenes, any system cannot function properly or smoothly without it.  Pinion Solutions can supply the parts necessary to help your corporation function smoothly.
